Our Story
As a family, we were preparing to enter a new stage of life. With all the changes that swept across the country after the government lockdowns of 2020 and beyond, we found ourselves craving something different — something real. That’s when we discovered Overlanding.
In 2024, we joined a local, family-friendly group called Calvary Overland, based right here in North Texas. On our very first trip with Calvary, we fell in love with the experience — the adventure, the community, the freedom.
But like many newcomers, we also ran into a few challenges.

The Problem We Faced
That first guided trip was amazing… but it came with some unexpected stress. Driving through thick dust made it nearly impossible to see the road or the other vehicles. Not knowing exactly where we were going added to the anxiety.
At one point, part of our team took a different path, and no one knew until we were well off-track. Later, a mechanical issue sidelined a rear vehicle, but the lead rig was already out of radio range. And to top it off, a few participants arrived late and had to try catching up on their own.

The Idea Was Born
We made it through — together — and we had a blast. But afterward, my wife and I started thinking: There’s got to be a better way to stay connected out there.
As we explored existing apps and tools, we realized this wasn’t just a problem for Overlanders. Hiking groups. Camping crews. Bicycle clubs. Premium tour companies. All of them face similar coordination issues when exploring the outdoors.
That’s when Overlander.app was born — a tool designed to keep your group connected, informed, and safe, no matter where the trail takes you.
